Life absolutely can be fabulous. Seriously it can.
I’m not quite positive what compelled me to write this morning. I have been waking up a bit earlier to sit and enjoy my coffee after my morning ritual and the laptop was staring at me on the table. I had a few thoughts like, “you should write something…you should share something” and I just really didn’t feel like I had much to say. And I realized that often in my past, I would write when things sucked. Maybe not on this blog, but in my journal or even to other people. I would use writing as a form of expression, to get all those thoughts and feelings out of me.
Of course, I’d come back to it after and read it. And kinda roll my eyes at it for being a drama queen. That’s what I used to write about so when I felt compelled to write this morning I was at a loss for words. That is until I realized that. It was that realization that brought forth the perfect topic – life can be good.
I’ve claimed I was an eternal optimist for quite some time. I actually have it on my resume (no shit) and it is one of the reasons I was hired into my current 9-to-5. It’s also the reason that I began talking to a recent new friend. But I’m not talking about optimism here. I’m talking about literally an amazingly good life. Sure I still have “bad days”. For example I was grumpy as fuck for a few hours yesterday. Sure I still get sad or cry. But overall life is just absolutely amazing for me.
So I thought I would share a few things that I believe helps bring me all this.
Gratitude. Start expressing gratitude. This can be in the form of a journal or just saying it out loud. If you really want to kick it up – tell people that you are grateful for them. It’s amazing what can happen when you start focusing on gratitude.
Know-How to Raise Your Own Spirits. This one will translate differently for everyone. For me, it is dancing! What activity can you do that will almost instantly change your mindset. Maybe its getting out for a run, maybe its cleaning the house. If you find yourself in a funk though, do this!
Create Ritual. These are going to be rituals around your spirituality. This could be morning prayers, evening prayers, lighting a candle for your deceased loved ones. Whatever it is, find a ritual that has deep meaning for you. I have a 10-minute ritual I do most mornings.
Basic Needs Check-Ins. Do regular check-ins to make sure you’re taking care of your own basic needs. Are you getting enough sleep, eating well, taking care of your mind, body, and spirit? If you aren’t, take the necessary actions to remedy this.
Follow Astrology. Yeah, this one may be a little bit silly to some folks but hear me out. Astrology can give us some tangible reason for what we may be going through AND a timeline for when we might see changes. It helps give me peace of mind when I may be going through a rough patch. It can do the same for you.
