The Runes: Ansuz, Raidho, & Kenaz

The Runes are not only one of the oldest written dialects, it also has many magickal purposes. This blog post will be going over three more of the Elder Futhark Runes. These three runes are in the first Aett or family of runes.

The fourth rune in the Elder Futhark is Ansuz. The direct translation of Ansuz is mouth. The color associated with this rune is violet. This rune stands for communication, speech, and understanding. When this rune is pulled, there may be a need for clearer communication in your life. Either that or communication may be a key factor in your life. It all depends on the other runes that have been pulled for you.

The fifth rune in the Elder Futhark is Raidho.  The direct translation of Raidho is wagon or wheel. The color associated with this rune is a dark blue. This rune represents literal travel as well as figurative travel. When this rune is pulled, you have to focus your energy to do the traveling to obtain your goals. Whether this means making the move to follow your dreams, or taking that trip to the craft store to start your business.

The sixth rune in the Elder Futhark is Kenaz. The direct translation of Kenaz is torch or fire. The color associated with this rune is yellow. When this rune is pulled, it means you may have some learning to do. Maybe there is learning to be had in the situation you are in, or you may be the one to teach others what they need to know.

The first Aett or family of runes is called Freyr’s Aett. Freyr is the Norse God of Fertility. This Aett consists of the first eight runes in the Elder Futhark. Next week, we will be going over the next three runes in the Elder Futhark.
