Real-talk: Is a Virtual Psychic Medium as Good as an In-Person Psychic Medium?

Hey there! It’s Sunshine, the pink-haired psychic medium. Are you ready to experience a psychic medium reading? There are two ways to do it: in-person and virtual. There are several pros and cons for both virtual and in-person readings. 

For example, an in-person reading provides a tangible experience with the reader but you don’t get to feel the presence of the reader in a virtual session. However, with virtual readings, you get to take that recorded session with you wherever you go and don’t even have to leave your house!

In this blog post, we’ll take an in-depth look at both options, their benefits and drawbacks, and how to decide which one is right for you. Read on for all the magick and then some!

What Is A Virtual Psychic Medium Session? 

When we talk about ‘virtual’, it means that the one-on-one session and guidance provided can be done over video conferencing software, the telephone, chat, or even delivered to your email inbox. It’s different from an in-person session as you won’t be sitting directly across from the psychic medium and they won’t be sharing the same space with you. In some cases, a session could even be recorded and delivered after the fact. 

Virtual psychic medium sessions are more flexible which allows for more people to receive readings. We’ll go into more detail about these benefits later. But first, let’s talk about in-person psychic medium readings!

What Is An In-Person Psychic Medium Session?

Most significantly, you’re either sharing the same space with them or not. In-person sessions often take place at metaphysical shops, coffee shops, bars (though this is not my jam!), flower shops, or even readers’ homes. I actually offer these in-home readings and love them!

An in-person session may offer a more intimate atmosphere and a sense that you’re really connected with the reader, while virtual sessions allow for greater flexibility and convenience, as well as possibly a lower cost. Now, let’s look at the benefits of each type of session in more detail.

What Are The Benefits Of An In-Person Psychic Medium Session?

As the person purchasing the session, you can get a better energetic feel for that particular psychic or business. We’ve all had experiences of walking into a shop and immediately picking up and feeling if this is where we want to be exchanging energy and doing business. We’ve also had times when meeting someone in person, we get creepy crawly sensations just by being around them. It’s nice to know that before you purchase a session!

You can also pay them in cash if you don’t want your partner to know you’ve spent money on a psychic reading. It’s a really vulnerable thing to get a reading from someone who can see you so clearly, and having the people you care about make jokes or judge you for it is not ideal.

You can also see if they’re legitimate and invested in their time with you instead of feeling like they’re standing on the other side of the phone, with a cigarette hanging out of their mouth, doing their dishes and giving you b.s. answers.

From the psychic medium’s perspective, you can read a client’s energy better if you’re in the same space. You can pick up on their body language too, which helps you understand more of their energetic state. You can also do psychometry – the ability to pick up an object and read it. If divination tools, such as tarot cards or pendulums are used, the client will be able to participate in shuffling and choosing. So there are certain benefits for both parties. 

Ultimately, an in-person session is still a great way to explore your spiritual side to receive AND give valuable guidance.

What Are The Benefits Of A Virtual Psychic Medium Session?

If you’re anything like me, your schedule is hectic – even if it includes doing nothing, let’s be honest. Being able to pick the time, place, and method of your psychic medium reading is a luxury we’ve only now begun to enjoy in this technological age, and I’m a fan!

As the recipient, the first benefit of a virtual session is that you can do it anywhere. Plus, you can find a psychic medium that’s more aligned with you, regardless of location. And don’t forget, you can record it to review after the session. If it’s a phone/video call, you can save chat transcripts. If it’s an email or video reading sent to you, you can keep and review it as many times as you desire.

As the psychic medium giving the reading, I really enjoy the ability to do ritual and focus exercises before connecting with my clients. This enables me to give more powerful and accurate readings as my energy isn’t trying to metabolize a bunch of other people’s energy and distractions I may be sharing space with at a public location or store.

I also find that I can keep a better energetic boundary when we’re virtual, and I have more time for pre/post-session rituals. Plus, with technology on my side, I’m able to deliver a fantastic experience – with reminders sent through email and text and a recording & written transcript of the session delivered within 48 hours. I don’t have that luxury in person, especially when reading people back-to-back at psychic fairs and events.

Of course, there are some downsides to both in-person and virtual readings.

What Are The Downsides Of An In-Person Psychic Medium Session?

For an in-person session, you’re going to have to travel. If you’re finding a local psychic medium near you, you’ll have to go to them — rarely will they ever come to you unless it’s for an event or party. You’re also limited in your options; the location will determine who you can genuinely connect with. For example, I’ve met a psychic medium in a rural town who’s been doing it for 30 years — if you’re stuck with just one option and they weren’t the right fit, this could be very limiting.

From my perspective on the psychic medium side of the seat, there are downsides too. For instance, I can become energetically overwhelmed at in-person events, though this doesn’t happen often. I may also have to limit the readings I do with clients due to time or space limitations as well as the inability to do solid clearing and grounding rituals between readings.

And lastly, I need a shop, coffee shop, or location like my home that can comfortably accommodate folks for an in-person session. Your environment is a key element to being able to tune into your own energy and insight as well as establishing a meaningful and clear connection with your client.

Overall, there’s a lot to consider when it comes to in-person psychic medium sessions — but what about virtual psychic medium sessions?

What Are The Downsides Of A Virtual Psychic Medium Session?

As far as the downsides for a virtual psychic medium session as the client receiving the reading, you don’t get to feel the presence of the reader or study their surroundings to gauge their legitimacy. In this case, I’d put in a bit of time looking over their website, reading client reviews, watching videos on their social channels, and taking them in as much as possible before scheduling.

As the psychic medium giving the reading, you have less peripheral information to observe and draw from in your session. For example, I can’t use any psychometry or divination tools that my clients could interact with. But the pros of providing virtual sessions far outweigh the cons. In my opinion, an in-person reading is just as good as a virtual one. And with virtual readings, you get to take that recorded session with you wherever you go! 

How To Choose Between A Virtual Or An In-Person Session?

This is an important decision, but it doesn’t have to be stressful. First and foremost, you need to decide if the comfort and privacy of your own home or car are most important to you. That will make the choice easier: virtual for comfort, in-person for a more tangible experience.

Next, think about what you want to get out of the session. What type of reading do you need? Are you looking for guidance, or would you like to incorporate healing in the reading? For example, I’m an expert in accessing and exploring the Akashic records and past life information, providing healing through Reiki, speaking to loved ones crossed over, and much more. Although I’m not as knowledgeable in numerology, so I wouldn’t be the ideal expert for you if that’s what you needed.

Doing a bit of research is key: search online for virtual psychics and read reviews, or ask your friends if they have ever had a psychic reading. Compare the companies that offer their services, as well as those working under Sunshine Reading’s brand. Alternatively, reach out to friends for their recommendations – either way, I’m sure you’ll find just what you’re looking for!

Once you have made your decision, the most important factor is whether or not you feel warmth and connection with your chosen reader. Both virtual and in-person readings have their merits, but make sure to choose one that feels best for you –or try them both!
